Disclosure: I am not a saltwater fisherman and I realize that this may be a stupid question.
I borrowed a Carrot Stix saltwater rod from a friend to take with me to the beach for family vacation. This rod has a little metal piece sticking out of the rod about 2/3 way up the handle under the reel. I don't want to mess my buddys rod up, but metal piece gets in the way and is sharp. Does anyone know if this can be removed. It is attached to the rod under the rod tape.
Any help on whether or not this is supposed to be removed or is an integral part of the rod is greatly appreciated.
