Water is stained green visibility app 2 ft . I can see lots of larger bass swim by but no bite . caught several under 12'' a few nice blugills. I believe it's just over fished . If anyone has any advice on that park ,give me a holler.

They threw trout in there a couple years ago, I think I got them all out. I didn't get any bites last year after the water went green.

Oh OK. I have seen it but never fished it. But have other ponds around Mesquite. I never pay attention to the park names. rolfmao

I hear they stock Mesquite City Lake on Galloway with trout in the winter and catfish...I don't really know about the catfish.

My old boss goes over there on occasion. Says there are catfish in there. They stock it in the winter with trout for a kids fish they have every year. They get a little uptight if you try to fish it between stocking and the kids fish.

There's a good size park over off Pioneer. Has two ponds in it. Been there a couple of times. It holds bass I know that, but they are a little tricky to catch there.

Yea, I get the uptight...that's why I only go over there to teach the kids how to catch those slimy little fish...yea, that's it. Someone needs to show them how. I just try to help everyone get them out of the water before the cormorants show up and eat all those little tax dollar, pan size rainbows.

Have you tried a T-rig. If the water is clear enough for them to see you, you're gonna have to go at them from a distance.

Oh and about catfish in the Mesquite , if you go and cast right by the drain pipe on the near side of the lake by the little bridge you can get some nice catfish . saw a guy pull in about 8 in an hour all over 22 inches . Especially right after the rain . guy told me that the catfish congregate there to catch stuff coming in from the drain . he was using catfish bait on sponge hooks .

Thanks RickS nope haven't tried the t-rig will try that next .. what bothers me is the bottom seems to have a heavy layer of hmm some type of alge ( osrry need to learn my water weeds ) its bright green hair thin alga like growth . Not sure if a t-rig will work in this . Might just get to covered in this stuff . just seems to hot for topwater but maybe early morning or late night . hmmm

If you have the patience for it, go weightless. Try a wacky rig. Some of the ponds that I fish get really clear, like i can see 7-8 down. The bass won't touch normal baits like rattle traps or crank baits. They don't seem too interested in plastic worms either, but I throw a wacky rigged worm out there, and it starts to produce. I use a circle hook and a french fry most of the time. Seems to work well for me and gives off a lot of action.
