Thats the only thing i can think of. Been fishing 20lb. big game, using the same palamor knot ive been using forever. Last evening i had 4 breakoffs on the hook set. Something has to change! The line is only about a month old, but i did give it a good reel magic soaking a few days ago..maybe i should consider a different knot..

Would not spray the knot intentionally..just sprayed the line laying on the reel with nothing tied to it..

well, not sure that reel magic did much for the line anyway..been thinking of switching to invisx for awhile now..hopefully my polamar knot will be good on floro..

I do not use the polamar knot on flo. I use this knot and the polamar on everything else.

I've noticed a difference when using Reel Magic and when not on several types of mono. I wouldn't think it would weaken the knot, maybe just a little older line? I know its only a month old but maybe it had been on the shelf for awhile.

Use a trilene knot. It may have been a bad spool. I've used 15-20lb big game for ever for my mono and never had a problem.

Scrap the REEl Magic and use the KVD line conditioner. It is 100x better than the reel magic.

Check your guides to make sure none of them are cracked or chipped. I had the end guide cracked on one of my rods and it would fray the line. Snapped every time I set the hook. Figured it out after I put new line on reel and it kept breaking.

i had a bunch of problems with the reel magic, switched to thekvd stuff and problems went away

+1 I use Big Game and KVD conditioner, never have a problem.
