3. Even though you see a bunch of fish on your graph how can you tell when to stop and fish or look for another spot?

Yes, yes, and yes.

1. Yes if the bait moves they won't stay without bait available to feed. More so they will suspend close to where they have positioned themselves, a lot of times I think it's due to thermacline.

2.They will feed when the opportunity for the easiest meal arises.

3. When they won't bite!

These are just my own opinions from a novice angler.

Bass get deep in the summer?

3-5 feet

sometimes 6ft unless your on worth then thats as deep as it gets lol

Come on Barrett. Share the love for deep water fish. Then I will tell you about Amistad deep fish that I have experienced.

1.I think the really active schools move a hundred yards or so but stay close to the structure most of the time. They can totally disappear so who knows. It seems like some areas stay active with schools for days, others for months or all year long.

2.I think their feeding times vary, sometimes you can count on it being am, midday, or pm, but it can change quickly due to fronts, lake conditions, and moon phases.

3.If you see a bunch of fish on your graph you should stop and make some casts, unless you know that they are not bass. I would at least fish the spot for 15 min, at that rate you can get a good idea of what lure sees the most action. Some lakes have lots of deep bass and others have few. Also look for bass and baitfish to be tightly grouped on your sonar. If the bass are feeding they will usually be tight to the baitfish, if they are inactive, they will be scattered some. Appreciate the help...I am learning more and more about deep fishing. We had a tourney the past weekend that we thought we had 2 good schools of fish and 1 decent school located. The next day they were not there in any of the quantities we saw the day before and were not eating like I thought they should.

We went into scramble mode and it was just too late. We searched and searched and just couldn't find them bunched up like that in those same areas. Weather was pretty much the same except the wind picked up just a small amount.

Great thread! Deep water fishing is frustrating to learn and easy to give up on.
