CJ's is good stuff and it stays on a bare treble hook well. I'm sure that most others are going to say they prefer a slip float rig but I like a slip sinker rig (Carolina rig) with a #6 treble hook. Either tight lined or with a little slack. The only reason I prefer a slip sinker over a slip cork is that the slip cork rig seems to get blown around too quickly by the wind. Just my 2cents

I prefer slip cork, i have also had good luck tight lining it straight down if you are in a boat or on a dock but need to use a rod with a senitive tip, ive never tried it on a carolina rig like Miles suggested but im sure it works pretty good or he wouldn't have suggested it, i do know some fisherman that use a smaller version of the santee cooper rig with punch bait and has had alot of success.

#6 trebble hook fished either way above will produce fish with prepaired baits. Never used CJ's but a lot of people on this site like it, I use secret 7 and sudden impact and believe its the best prepaired bait on the market today.

The best rig for baits such as Cj's, Mr. Whiskers, Sure Shot etc.
1/2oz. egg weight, and either a Carolina Keeper (what i use) or a swivell, then about a foot of line with a # 6 treble hook. I
don't know about the rest but Mr. Whiskers floats so it will float up off the bottom about 6-10in. This will work with just about all punch baits, Stink baits and even worms, and shad. Carolina Keepers can be got at the Acadamy, Cabella's and Bass pro. They allow you to move the stop up and down the line as you like.

I use CJ's and Danny Kings with good success on a carolina rig. I have used it with a slip cork, but like Miles said if the wind is up it blows around too much for my liking tho. Try different punch baits. Some days one does better than others. We kinda make a contest out of that just for fun.

Slip cork shallow (10' or less) and Carolina when fishing deeper.

I use 1/2-1oz on a slip sinker or Carolina rig with a short leader (6-10) with a #6 treble. Slip cork rigs only when pitching it up to things like brush, rocks, docks, or fishin roosts.
