Just wondering how many poles you all fish with when out in your yak?

If fishing for black bass, I actively fish with only one at a time, but any time else, I normally have at least 1 if not 2 in the water with live bait and cranking a 3rd.

I usually paddle and cast - Ivery seldom anchor or sit in one spot so if in fairly unobstructed areas - I'll keep 1 or 2 trollers behind me - usually floating crankbaits or lightweight jigs as they are less likely to hang if/when I stop and then 1 for casting. If obstructed areas, just throw 1 rod. The very few times I bait fish, 2 in the water and usually cranking 1 or all 3 on bait. I've found 3 rods to be the best number of me.....anymore and it becomes more difficult to manage.

I don't fish more than 3, and agree they definitely become hard to manage when it is too windy or you have multiple fish on. Although, I will never complain about having fish on more than 1 line at a time. smile

Man, I've had horrible experiences trying to troll 2 lines at once. I need to figure out a good way to do it now that I have the Outback... maybe I need to set the rods further out on either side. I always end up with a tangled mess and have to cut 100 feet of line off each rod.

I'm the same way, usually have three rods in front of me but just fish one at a time when lure pitching. For bait I usually just do two. In the gulf I just had two... hooking two 30-40lb redfish at once would have been horrible...

...horribly awesome, that is!! cheers

If I'm drifting for cats three maybe four if it's slow. But two if the action is somewhat steady. Striper fishing with bait two.
Bassfishing just the one I am using. Trolling two.

If I'm fly fishing outta my yak, I only bring my fly rod. If conventional, usually just 2 baitcasters (1 for plastics t-rig and 1 for lures/cranks/chatters) and 1 ultralite spinning. More than that for me becomes a pain to manage.

If I put more than one line in it usually winds up getting tangled and I have to spend 10-15 minutes cutting both and tying everything back on.

One light spinning, one heavier spinning, and sometimes a baitcaster. Usually just two rods, though.
