I know its been said a million times here, but wading even just waist deep in the pass is very dangerous. Wear a life jacket if yall decide to do that. At least 3 people have already died there this summer.

I have more luck off the beach than I do in the pass, and its safer. Get yall some live shrimp and popping corks and hit it at dawn. Let us know how you do.

You can get shrimp anywhere this year. There is no danger during the incoming tide. You have to have green moving water to catch fish there.

Wrong! There is always danger at SLP. Just be careful and aware of your surroundings. There are deep drop offs. You could be wading waist deep and next thing you know you step into an 8 ft drop off and are swept away by the rushing current and pulled under. It happens to people every single month practically. It is some good fishing though, but if you are going to venture into the water wear a life jacket.

Or you can pull up and fish the beach at any of the beach access roads. I prefer the beach for specs and reds when the water is flat. If the water isn't flat you may want to try the pass.

Shrimp has been easy to come by the year. Just hit the bait shops early.

I thought I was going to drown out there a couple weeks ago. I must have hit a deep drop off and trying to swim with a fishing pole and making no progress going either way sucks....I feel pretty lucky

Hope all goes well and you get some nice fish
