Had all 3 of us throwing the same lure without a bite for 2+ hours.

I do not base my guide trip results on the numbers of fish I catch. To me it's a total experience for the day. A big part of that is the personality of the guide and what did I learn.

I've had one what I would call "bad guide trip". It was about 20-25 years ago. This particular guide was hitting all the prime spots from the front deck while I took the leftovers from the back. Even so I was learning something watching. But the reason I never booked with him again is that he had the personality of a rock. He was not pleasant to be around or with for the day. I call that a bad guide trip.

I had a guy that fished out of an 88 POS that didnt have a working trolling motor. Then asked me where I wanted to fish. Wow

Only once. Probably six or seven years ago at the coast. Guy was just a little too high strung for my tastes. Easily frustrated about anything, constantly yelling at other boaters when they were in 'his' spots or for running too close to us (75+ yards away), managed to flip his aerator off and kill all the bait and insisted that it must have been one of us. Still caught some decent reds but never went with him again.

WackySenko, that didn't happen to be in Rockport did it? And was the guide all roided out? Or perhaps Calcasieu? I can't recall which, but there was a guide like that at one of those locations, and all the other guides hated him cause he poached all THEIR spots.

My brother and I used a Crappie guide on Lake Weiss in AL. The guy was a severe alcoholic (did not know this until the trip). He had the shakes so bad two hours into the trip, I was concerned he was going to die. Limit was 25 each at 10" and we had 24 each within an hour or so. We kept throwing everything else back telling him they were 9":) He caught on and got upset. By the time we loaded the boat, his hands were shaking so bad he could not start the truck. As soon as we got back to his place, he drank enough Vodka to kill a horse at which time his hands stopped shaking. He knew his stuff, but wow. Funniest part, he had the runs and just hung his rear end over the back of the boat and hung onto the motor and squeezed out a few squirts every 15-20 minutes. Funny story now that I think about it!

I had one with a guide that posts on here quiet frequently, fishes on Fork and doesn't have the best reputation.... Charged me and a buddy 350 a piece to fish after telling us it was 350 for the boat for two. Drove all the way down and had that dropped in our lap

I'm sure the guides won't post on it, but I'd like to see them post about experiences with bad clients. Oh man...some of the people guides have to put up with...

I asked this very question to a guide last year on a trip. He had some interesting commentary.

It's just like anything else. There are always going to be a few folks that are difficult or just don't get it.

In the early years on Fork seemed like some of the guides were trying to catch the next record.
Havent had any problems in the last few years.

I guess I'm lucky because I have not had one bad guide experience. Really liked essentially all of them-Falcon, Fork,etc..
I have my favorites that are really just my friends at this point, but those guys on both of the big two lakes have all been great.
Now, the bad client experiences those guys have had- wow.
I dont think I would like a guide who isnt friendly, clean, has no respect for the environment, or hogs the front, or is drunk-no not good.

Had an unusual experience on Falcon. Fished 2 days with Jim Behnken, who is awesome. Fished the last day with a guide I won't name who was horrible. He constantly front ended my Son, who was on the front deck with him and had no idea how to drive his new Skeeter 20i.

Galveston Bay. We waded one of the biggest Community spots for a couple of hours without a bite. Got back to the boat and the so called Guide asked us "where do you think we should go next?"

He had a nice Parker Big Bay. Evidently he thought buying a nice boat qualified him as a guide.
