And to add about resources and $$ for info -- Boyd Duckett was a multi-millionare before he started fishing competitively...so, if it was all about the $$ then wouldn't he be the "best"...?

yes kvd is a great salesman and has people fishing for him just like most of the top anglers do.. but lets not forget the hard work all the pro's had to put in to get to the top and get the big sponsorships.. so they can be the best with the best equipment and pay people to help them out. with me being a tournament fisherman it sucks that most of the guys winning even the tournaments I fish. all have contacts on every lake they fish but they have paid there dues met people and been fishing for years now. it all comes with time pay your dues spend as much time on the water market yourself meet new people share fishing advice and you will get the big break one day just like KVD did.

I think he found the fountain of youth....dude hasn't aged in 20 years...his sunglass style and hats change....about it. I'm jealous.

Clunn still fishes today and has access to same modern tools as KVD. Even uses the same brand boat yet Clunn is not winning these last few years. Not a knock on Clunn as I am a big fan of his but just being honest. You would think with 20yrs experience over KVD he would be beating up on the field. KVD is not marketing or hype. The guy is simply one of if not the greatest we have seen to date. One important thing Clunn doesn't have anymore Mark is YOUTH...father time eventually is the winner.. I also bet Clunn gets less information from lake locals and guides.. I worked several pro staff days with KVD and he's a great guy, but trust me he does get lots of help.. had folks lining up at lunch to give him info...he didn't even ask for..

Thanks guys! By no way was I banging on KVD he truly is a awesome angler. I just thought it would make for a good topic! Thanks for the insight! I would love to see Hank, Rick, KVD, Denny and a few more all time greats put on a body of water and given 2 days to practice and 3 days to fish! Think it would make for good TV! Major League Fishing is close ... and KVD has not dominated ..FLW guy won, Old elite guy won and one young Elite won..but no KVD..not sure he's even been in many of the finals..

Have to agree with this. A guy that's in his mid-60's is not going to keep up with someone 25 years younger. The physical aspect of bass fishing will wear you down at some point. Actually I think Clunn has done pretty well the last few years considering his age.

Let's not forget the boats that are following these guys everyday.. I don't think Hank Parker and Clunn had 100 boats down their throats everyday. When these guys are practing, there are many boats following them and using GPS's.. When they leave these guys are wearing the fish out.. It's hard enough to locate fish and execute for 4 days.. Can you imagine doing this with all the boats following you and stealing your numbers.. Crazy..

Has anybody seen that commercial where kvd catches the boot? HAlariouso!

So you are saying he received info despite the no info rule and BASS allowed it? aren't you allowed to use info before the off limits?

In fact, he should perform better than KVD because he has access to the same technology PLUS that much more experience. However, Rick Clunn has just become more "odd" about his fishing philosophy but yet much less productive. kVD is still the best in the world.
