Anybody fished Cooper lately? My wife and I are headed up there this weekend and hoping to get on the hybrids. Any info would be appreciated.

HAVE NOT FISHED IT LATELY, BUT I HAVE HEARD THE SCHOOLING ACTIVITY OF THE SANDIES AND HYBRIDS WAS ON IN A BIG WAY. BE EXTRA CAREFUL ON THE WATER, THE LAKE IS VERY LOW AND HAS SOME DANGEROUS PLACES THAT ARE JUST UNDER THE SURFACE AND HARD TO SEE. GOOD LUCK AND HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT TIME.

I want to fish either Cooper or Tawakoni this weekend. With the LTSA tournament on Tawakoni this weekend, I'm leaning toward Cooper. I don't know why, I haven't caught any fish there in 12 years.

SORRY TO HEAR DOUBLE ROW. I HAVE ALWAYS FOUND SCHOOLING SANDIES AND HYBRIDS JUST ABOUT EVERY TIME THERE. CAUGHT SOME REALLY NICE SANDIES ETC.. OUT FROM THE DOCTORS CREEK SWIMMING AREA ON THE FLATS LAST TIME THERE. IT WAS AT NIGHT ON MINNOWS. THEY WERE IN ABOUT 24 FT. OF WATER THEN. REMEMBER THE LAKE IS DOWN OVER 8 FT. NOW THOUGH. IT STILL MIGHT BE A GOOD PLACE TO TRY. I HAVE CAUGHT SEVERAL SLABBING IN THAT AREA IN THE DAYTIME AS WELL. BY THE DAM IS ALSO A GOOD PLACE AS WELL.

Look for the hybrids and white bass on main lake humps. I have had the best luck on a 4in sassy shad with a 3/4oz head on hybrids.
Cooper is 8 1/2ft low as of today. There is no more than 2ft of water at south sulphur ramp. Dr Creek or tira ramps are a better choice to launch at right now. There are MANY very shallow spots you will RUN AGROUND on cooper ridht now if you are not paying VERY close attention..

Thanks Tony! If you're fishing this weekend look for the old school deckboat and come by and say hi. We'll definitely look out for low water.

I'll post a report next week.

The fishing was great. We followed Tony's advice and worked the humps. Most of our fish were caught in 12 to 15 feet of water. We didn't have a whole lot of luck on the Hybrids, but we caught about 100 of the biggest Sandies I've ever seen. We were using Sandjohnny's Old Uglies, RSR 50/50 shad, and 4" sassies.
We also caught 3 huge Crappie on slabs. All in all, a great weekend on Cooper!

I think we saw you Saturday afternoon. When we launched at Doctors Creek and someone in a deck boat was beached on the bank. We waved at you as we headed out to fish. I assume that was you? My wife, 2 boys and I were in a Hurricane deck boat.
We didn't do nearly as good as you did. We only boated 5 sand bass between 3:30 and 7:30. I guess I'm going to have to give up on Cooper and go back to Tawakoni. Congratulations on your successful day of fishing.
