Threads about KVD, KVD's Boat, KVD's Lures and KVD this and KVD that! Why are so many anglers in love with KVD, don't get me wrong he's a great fisherman and seems to be a good person and is a grinder I understand all of that. But with that said look at the advantages he's had over who I feel may be the Greastest of all time. Especially to not have had the technology that KVD and today's anglers have? Rick Clunn has won as many Classics (4) had more top 5's (11) and appered in 28 consecutive classics, pretty impressive. I guess we are a what have you done for us lately sociaty! Now if your a KVD fan don't jump down my throat I'm just asking a question. And lastly theres another guy I'd be willing to bet would have wrote a record book career that no one could touch if he hadn't retired early Hank Parker! Just my thinking.

Maybe one thing to look at is how the Industry has changed over the years, The guys like Clunn, Parker and others who are all awesome and there record shows for sure that in KVD era is there is just so much more guys out there who can go and winning a event today is so much harder. I mean look at some of the top guys in this state alone who can go with anyone in any circut be it Bass or FLW. I guess it is just a way deeper field today with more guys knowing where to go and what to do with all the information availble today. Just makes it harder to win one. I know that the pioneers of this sport had the guys they would compete against but the field was not as deep or the over all knowledge was there during that time.
I am blessed to have a opportunity to live a childhood dream as a professional wrestler

I love Hank Parker..his show is the best, it's more like a comedy these days but, he promotes his sponsors well on it and adventurs out unlike Bill Dance. Also love me some Jimmy Houston, crazy nutt!

Clunn still fishes today and has access to same modern tools as KVD. Even uses the same brand boat yet Clunn is not winning these last few years. Not a knock on Clunn as I am a big fan of his but just being honest. You would think with 20yrs experience over KVD he would be beating up on the field. KVD is not marketing or hype. The guy is simply one of if not the greatest we have seen to date.

that's easy, Kevin is better than Clunn, How? well let me try to prove that.
1.KVD has actually had zero advantages over Clunn because everything that has been available to him has also been available to Clunn (he still fishes remember) 2. Clunn was the best back in the day, but no longer, why well not because he forgot how to fish, but the caliber of fishermen around him got better. 3. look at the average place each places in a tournament throughout their years. KVD is night and day above any other angler. He has only failed to make top 50 in a very small percentage of his tournaments.

When I first got into fishing about 2 years ago, he was the first pro angler I heard of and I watched his diamond shad you tube videos. No doubt he is good, but I think his true talent is getting his name out there.
At first it was about the fish, now it's about so much more...

I don't think many of the Elites have the money or resources that KVD has ,, Not talking about Boats,Elec or lures.
I know for 2011 Classic he had 6 guides on Payrole scouting and finding fish and marking waypoints for him,, Not in anyway saying he cant fish and isn't great He still has to go out and catch those fish, But when you can do that it sure takes a lot of the work out of it..
I kind of look at it this way... That would be like me and one of my buddies both going to Sam R. and he goes and does his scouting and trying to figure out a Pattern and I just Hire((( Albert Collins))) to tell me which bait and by what stump to throw it.. He may whip my butt, but its unlikely.
Again not putting down on him , He has worked his way up to the top. But I know he has better resources then most,, Heck After the Sabine River tournament he was the Only Elite to leave his Boat there for a Crew Member to Pull down,, Sure makes it nice to have that type of stroke. LOL

compare the winnings of the 2 guys Not a good comparison. Different time periods and different payouts. Clunn was the greatest of his era and one of the best ever. KVD is the best of his era and one of the best ever. KVD has amassed his record against other anglers who had access to the same equipment he does. Clunn amassed his record against anglers who had access to the same equipment he did at that time. Although I believe, as a whole, the talent level of the anglers today is much greater than in Clunn's era. Back then, there were 10 guys who were a legitimate threat to win on any given day. In the Elites alone there are at least 40. That Clunn is still competing and a threat to win is amazing to me. I don't think Kevin will be doing this in 20 more years like Rick. He has too many other interests and, with the endorsements and payouts these days, he'll be able to retire from competitive angling any time he chooses.
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

Not a KVD fan boy here but I respect and recognize true talent.

This is similar to basketball and football. Inevitably the older the person the older their favorite. Clunn is your hero, it's hard to admit someone who was once the best, is no longer. Clunn simply got passed up by a younger, better fisherman. It's actually not hard to argue KVD as the all-time best. Sure Clunn was good for his time, so was Parker, but KVD stands alone. He routinely beats many anglers that are now better than Clunn or Parker in what is now a much more competitive scene. Just like you always have a 70 year old sports writer saying Wilt was the best or Bill Russel was the best.... guess what, Russel and Wilt get their jocks broke by Olajuwan, Shaq, Duncan and the like. They cannot hang with the younger guys, never could. Same in football.... Broco Nagurski, Sam Huff, Joe Namath, etc........ they get absolutely physically destroyed by the modern day football player. We get better, we get stronger, faster, etc. It is what it is. In 30 years I will be talking about KVD this and KVD that, and there will be a younger angler saying that some new dude who is kicking KVD's butt is better than KVD..... it's just how it goes.
Jesus loves all of us

The ol pre fish posse, who knows if it's true or not. I enjoy watching KVD fish and I like watching quite a few other guys as well. I like how most every one has their own style.
I have met KVD before and he was a cool dude in my opinion.

All I know is last month I hired a guide in Morgan city, and we were talking and he said he was scouting for A Mart during that classic. And they were eating dinner one night, and Kevin and His family walk in with 6 Guides,, All them friends of my Guide that were from same area that had already told My guide who they were working for.. He said A Mart looked at him and ask how are we suppose to compete against that. Other then that I don't know ,,
