Just and FYI, to let everyone know how Hubbard is fishing.

So since my wife was not going to the LTSA tournament on 6/8. I was told I had to take her fishing Friday and Sunday. On Friday we fished the levy, fish were stacked along the ledge where it drops off. We caught a little over 100 then decided to go have dinner. Only problem wind really started blowing and my boat ran into the dock and damaged my I-pilot. Broke the housing, snapped the pin holding the locking arm, broke two screws, bent the stainless catch arm, lost the spring. Had to fabricate a new pin, drill and re-tap the holes, straighten the stainless arm, and make a new spring. Before the LTSA tournament the next morning.

Sunday we waited until after the rain quit, then headed out. Same area, fish stacked up on the levy again, but further down hanging on the ledge in deeper water. Caught a lot, but it played out after an hour or so. The fish seem to be moving around, off ledges and humps. So we moved over to the hump by the levy and marked a bunch off the drop off next to the hump. I was casting up on the hump and dragging my Mepps along the drop off and catching them one after another for 2 hours. We finally got tired after 148 whites, 11 hybrids, 3 yellow bass, and 1 drum, due to no wind and the heat, (not because of the fishing). And the fact that Googans decided that it would be really cool to drive 30 feet from me at full speed. I yelled at them but they just gestured with their arms up as if: WHAT? (I just don't get these people)? I believe I should run for legislature and get a law passed about boater safety and etiquette mandatory classes. Fine-able by $250 for failure to obey.

90% of the fish were caught on Mepps #3 & #4, my wife still uses our tried and true slab and her favorite had tied pink fly every now and then. I did notice John and Heather catching nice size Hybrids next to us on live shad, while their boys swam around the back of their boat. Pretty cool. Needless to say Hubbard is fishing great, you just have to locate the fish. Here are a few pictures. All the Hybrids but one deep hooked fish were CPR'd, and most of the white bass were released, kept a few for a friend.

Nice report and pics. I need to figure out the summer pattern still. Spent 5 hrs Friday day looking for them. Tried humps by 30, terry and Robertson point, and some levy areas by the dam. Only managed a few. Just when I got the hang of dead sticking, it all changed on me.

Paul, I did not drag them on the levy only on the hump. I was ripping it off the bottom on the levy, to dangerous to cast and drag in the levy area. Lisa lost 4 slabs over by the levy. I have only lost two total so far. I have had to troll over to the upside of the hump to retrieve them though.

oh ok. cool. i was just wondering cause in know how nasty with timber those levee's are. i lose slabs like crazy and i dont even have people cast them often.

steve the best thing you alluded to in your report was what you didnt say...those levee's are THE KEY TO HUBBARD. if you want to learn hubbard, learn the levees. they're the best kept secret out there and there are a TON of spots you can find and stay away from boat traffic. oops....did i say all that? bolt

How is the fishing during the late evening? If decent, what baits are being used?
