If I may quote James Caldemeyer...."Heavy sinkers, Long leaders".

I've always let the sinker slide free. Does anyone use a stopper, or peg to keep the sinker in place. I like it to be loose, so the fish can really take is, and I can feel it.
like the man says...if you're swimming in the ocean and get bitten by a shark, its not a shark attack. You're in THEIR neighborhood. If you're at home in your shower, turn around and a shark is in there with you...THAT'S a shark attack

Typical Carolina Rig has a weight, bead, swivel then the leader and hook. The weight should slide freely. But there are also times when you only have a Texas Rig weight and worm and are in a pinch to help the bait suspend. So without re-rigging I will slide the weight up a short/long distance and peg it with a weight stop. IF you use Tungsten weights AND Fluoro carbon be very cautious about sliding the PEGGED weight up and down. It can cause abraision on the line or even cause friction burn with the pegged weight when you PULL IT UP OR DOWN. It is really best to have the weight move freely with the standard setup so the fish does not feel the weight.

I like the long leaders. Unusually do up to 3'. Started bass fishing in about sept of last year so I got plenty of work with the c rig. Just always have it rigged up on the deck and you should love it by years end. Good luck!!

Anyone have the glass beads shred your line? I've got a bag of beads that I need to find a way to smooth out the holes.

Maybe a dremel, if you really wanna put a bevel on it. Mono on leader of lighter wieght. Also the sweep with bottom contact, you can sometimes almost feed it to the fish for split second before setting hook, depends on bite.
Those are all great tips, good luck!

i get annoyed with them. i prefer heavy texas rigs. but i know they work... Agreed... But the last couple of years I have really gained confidence! Get you a grande bass rattle snake with a 3/4 oz weight and about a 3ft leader and just drag! Keep bottom contact! Short slow about a foot-3 foot drags at most! Sometimes they just flat out want the rig of a tx rig!
