This is a good list of remedies, especially the night attack with the fogger then spray. After, put a pest strip like the old Shell pest strip (I carry them in my feed store) to prevent this from happening again. YOu could even lay one under the console on a bucket, at night, and see if it knocks them out. I keep my deer blinds absent of wasps all year long with these strips.

All good remedies. The truth is, everything here would work if it were possible to gain access to the darn nest. It is in an undetermined place under the console. A tight place for sure. Get in there then you need to lay on your back in a crouched position since there is little room and look up under the console. By the time you probably find it they have all had a good time stinging you. The nest may be at the edge somewhere or way up under there. Of course there is wiring and cables up under there too. Dark under there as well.
I know what to use to kill them instantly. What I need to know is how to get them before they get me. LOL
I do love the strip idea for later to keep them from doing this again. I think I might set this up and see how many I can catch. And, the sugar water idea in a bottle I think I will try for trapping them.

Outside of fishing, my favorite pastime growing up in Arkansas was fighing "waspers". Those red wasps are smart and will sneak up behind you and sting you.
You might try my grandma's method. She would wrap a bunch of newspapers around a broomstick, set in on fire and hold it up to the nest for a second or two. Probably won't damage the boat but will sure singe those wasps. I'd do it at night. They will be pretty docile at night and will not fly.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

It's easier to type suggestions than to muster the courage to carry out the advice printed on these pages, eh?
Based on what has been written, here's a combo sort of method based on what others have shared.
Hook up the boat and tow it outside at night. Take a black bag and some heavy duty tape, probably duct tape. Split the bag if needed to make a black curtain around the console. Acquire a fog canister and activate at night. Activate it. Later that night or next morning rip off the curtain and tow the boat to a car wash which has the pressure sprayer and tilt it upward to knock down the nest, dead wasps, etc.
Clothing: heavy socks, blue jeans, long sleeve denim type shirt, if you have a dry cleaning bag you make arm holes and pull it over your hat, torso and with the opening for your arms be able to complete the physical work while being able to see.
It's a thought.
Jeff
