I'm booked at the Lake Murry floating cabins the week of June 17th thru the 23rd but, understand Murry isn't much of a crappie lake. I could easily trailer my boat to other locations and stay at Lake Murry at night. Can anyone give me some alternative lakes that would be better crappie factories? I'm open to suggestions and may have an open seat a couple of the days. I know Texoma is fairly close but, no clue where to even start on that monster lake. I'd appreciate any input.

Oklahoma Dept of Wildlife Conservation put out fish attractors all over the state. Click on Lake Murray on the below website. Also just north of Ardmore are a couple of smaller lakes on the west side of I-35 that are public lakes. A few years ago a giant record setting crappie was caught there by a young girl. I meet a buddy from OKC every year at Lake Murray, but we stay in the State Park Cabins. http://129.15.97.26/attractors/
If we concentrated on the really important stuff in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles

I haven't fished Waurika in several years, but I still hear of good crappie being caught there. Might be worth your time. It's probably about 70 miles west of Murray

I lived in ardmore for 25 years and fished every inch of murray and know it well. I know about the other area lakes , fished them often, knew about them before they were even built. My advice is .....go to texoma. Call up the marinas for advice. I would just hire a guide for a half day trip, then you'll know where to go.

Waurika--graph the trees in 10--20 ft of water will hold groups of crappies..along the rocks at the dam..fish close to rocks early in the morning..crappie move deeper by 10am about 20 yards out from rocks in open water..find groups of fish on your graph around bird island or what's left of it..brush piles away from shore area in drop offs..fish hold at brush and humps.. If no fish in those areas..which you should catch plenty..if not go to the point with stick ups dropping off into deep water.. Dip a live med size minnow on a pink or green jig head around the stick ups..

http://www.shopoklahoma.com/fishingg.htmhere is a link that might help. I'd hire a guide for the first day on a half day trip, then the rest of the week you'll know where to go

we went,to Texhoma, caught some big ones with cliff spindle. All I remember was big mineral arm .and meeting ernest P; his buddy, and bobcat and crew out there, it was an intoxicatingly good day catching pound and 3/4 to 2 pound crappie. the water we were fishing was shallow, like 6 to 8 feet, and quite stained. Okie Bob the best advice I can give on a huge lake like that is pick a section or arm, that is out of the wind, and work it. don't try to cover the whole lake, it will overwhelm you.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Okie Bob we fish lake Murry all the time. It has some really nice slabs in it. We have our best luck around in our boat slips at the marina and where the state put all the brush in at. Best time is when the wind is blowing the water is so clear. Be careful of the big boulders since the lake is so low. You can also head over to Lake Texoma has some huge slabs in it as well. Good Place is Catfish Bay brown and orange or blue and white tube jigs. Can also swing on around to Alberta Creek Pink Chartreuse or blue and white color Jigs. Hope This helps Josh

There are so many 8-12 inch smallmouth in that lake I don't see how anything else survives.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.
