If anyone has any tips on what lake to hit Saturday (DFW area) and what type of lure to use, i would greatly appreciate it.

We both just bought kayaks (our firsts) and have only been out a couple times, but she gets impatient quicker than me. I would like to put her on some sandies or crappie (or something else that she will get lots of strikes) so she gets a baseline on what fishing while they are biting can be like.

We would be more than happy to have you tag along with us as well if you like too! You can point out all our newbie mistakes. Neither of us have a lot of experience fishing, but i plan on gaining a lot this year.

Thanks for any tips!

p.s. Joe Pool is the closest lake to us, but have never heard anything great about the fishing there. Ordered a Hook-N-Line map of the lake, so hopefully that will help me a little. Spent 4 hours there today and only got 3 sandies and a largemouth (all under 10"). Only thing i could get them to hit while trolling was Rooster Tails

I would consider hiring a guide for a day. The guide can almost certainly put you on fish and will keep your wife interested in fishing. Also you can learn some tips and techniques from him for the future. Money well spent IMO. But also there's plenty of guys on here to meet up with that are great at catching sandies and crappie.

Could try fishing for crappie around one of the bridges. I fish JP mainly at night, I'll tie off or anchor near the bridge at Lynn Creek marina and put a light out, can sometimes catch a lot of sandies and crappie there.

Thanks for the suggestions

Unfortunately buying 2 yaks last weekend left me short on play-time money so hiring a guide is out.

I would prefer to do fishing that is more entertaining than perch fishing.

I don't have a light for my yak yet so night fishing is out but I could try under the bridge just after dawn
