God and soldiers, we adore In times of danger, not before With the danger safely righted God is forgotten, and soldiers slighted

Yes. It's in Farmersville. I'm headed out there tomorrow evening after work.

I only worked the water from the launch to the first cove on the east since I was getting bit. Did ok but size was still limited to what you see above. Mark went up to the NE corner and did well with getting on fish as well. IMO, these SL fish look a bit stunted.....big head and long slender bodies. Maybe need to take a few out of there.....or maybe since the lake is fairly shallow, they suffer (esp during the summer). Anyway, it's a pretty lake and great for kayaks.....although you will see a number of full-up bass boats on it. On Sunday, there were our 2 yaks, a bass boat working the edges with spinners and a 9-10 foot boat with 3 men in it who were perch-jerkin'. I think they had as much fun as anyone.

Agreed on them being stunted. Largest I've caught out there was 18". There might be a couple 5#-6#ers in there, but they hide pretty well. I've caught a few fat ones out of there, but most of them are like you said, big head with a long slender body.

Great report and cool photos. I'd make it tomorrow after work but I'll be watching the NBA Finals on my couch.

I've caught a few that might touch 4#. But it's such a great place to fish from a kayak. It's the first place I put my Commander in the water, and it was perfect for learning a new kayak. Like others have said, it's a beautiful little lake, and the fishing is usually pretty good.

Went today between the two storm fronts. It was a bit windy but still doable. Since I had never been to South Lake before and have never fished lily pads before it took me a while to dial them in. I got 5 in the boat and had more than 10 on. Sadly it started to rain when I really figured out where they were and I had to leave. Can't wait until next time.
