Do the carp spawning in the shallows have an affect on the bass activity in the same areas? I fished Alvarado this morning and the carp where EVERYWHERE along the banks. I did manage a few bass, but feel like i would have done better without all of the carp activity.

In my experience when the carp are up slinging eggs you might as well go on to the next spot if you fishing shallow on the banks.

I have found when they are flopping around and really tearing up the shallows, bass will vacate.

Same here. Look offshore close to there and you can find them sometimes.

They are spawning like mad on Tyler. I haven't caught a fish in less than 8 feet of water in two weeks no matter how early I start.

When they ruin your fishing, help get rid of them for future fishing generations.

I like to see the carp up on the rocky shoreline that has a little drop to it. I can always pull out a little bit from the carp and catch bass. I think the bass know that the carp are going to stir up the craw fish and small perch and they wait and pick them off. This doesn't work for me on the silty shallow banks.

One of the things a Bass haits worst than a lizard is a baby Carp coming around their spawning beds. I have always done really well with a drop shot using a pumpkinseed sinko with the tail tip dipped chartreuse. Chomppers makes the best dark bait for this application and boy does it have the scent.

Fished a shad flooded bank on TWOK sat mornin. At about 8 o'clock the carp started stirring and pushed the shad out deeper, to 1.5ft, and the bass followed the bait. They were still coexistent none the less. Caught fish all day!!

Yep carp will trash a bass spawning bed and slurp up all the eggs. Any bait that looks like a small carp will trigger a bite. Too bad bass don't weigh 100 pounds and can eat all the carp.
