I have noticed at Texoma when the coves are full of carp, that the stripers are gone. Has anyone else noticed this?

Right now there seem to be thousands of carp in every cove at Texoma. This blows up my fishing because their schools look like stripers on my humminbird. I spend a lot of time trolling through carp.

I have caught many a striper from the shore while the buffalo were swimming all around me. I don't think the stripers are intimidated by the buffalo, but you are correct the buffalo are everywhere along the shore lines.

so these things I am seeing everywhere are smallmouth buffalo and not carp?

I caught a smallmouth buffalo once in Arkansas on a spinner bait. Things like this make me carry a camera becuase no one will believe it. When I hooked this I thought I was going to need a taxidermist for the bass I just knew was on the end of my line.

Yep they are an invasive species that we need to control a lot better than we are now. Bring a bowfishing rig with you and help get rid of them.

Why doesn't the state just go electro fish all those nasty carp and gar out of the lake. I would sure pay a surcharge on my license to fund that and I bet others would too. Monday when night fishing a gar came by my boat that looked about 6 ft. Scared the pants off me until I got a good look at it.

Go over the the rough fish section and you will find all the folks who will fight you to the death over getting rid of the common carp. They put themselves and their sport above gamefish and you. Please do your part and kill any common carp you see. If we all work at it we can rid the state of them and restocking gamefish might be a thing of the past.

I believe carp and buffalo are awesome sportfish. Just so u know I crappie fish more than I carp fish. I believe that rough fish keep the populations of gamefish in check. If we don't have gar or bottom feeders then a lot more eggs and fingerlings would make it, I agree about that. But I believe this would cause a major overpopulation of small fish. I'm not anti bow fishing but I do believe there needs to be limits. I also think bow fishermen should be fined for dumping dead carp and buffalo or releasing them with a arrow hole in them. Just my opinion! Try catching them. Bait with range cubes and fish with sweet corn and u might catch one like this!

This must be fake. You're baiting carp fishers right? Confrontation for the sake of slow discussion boards these days? Perhaps.
