I have noticed that about half way down the lake on the left hand side if you are traveling towards the damn, There is a Creek that has a remote Gate opener to it. The entire creek is closed off by this gate. I was looking in there and saw Houses and Docks just like any other part of the lake, Does anyone know who did this, was it the home owners in there? I do not see how this would be legal to gate off a part of the public water way. Hopefully someone knows. Looks like some decent fishing in there for sure.

Perhaps the creek or canal was constructed after the lake was dammed up, and it is still considered private?
If I'm not mistaken, Del Lago marina on lake Conroe falls under this category and is a private body of water?

More than likely, the landowner next to this canal has a pile of money (not hard to believe given the size of that house), and he got GBRA to let him install the gate there.

I know where you are talking about. I've always wondered about that myself.

I don't see how money could actually pay off for a gate but hey who knows, I won't. claim I know all the laws in regards to adding a canal to a public water way but it would seem that once it ties into public water you lose the privacy part, it would kind of fall about owing docks and the water around them.

I have a similar question on this topic. I live in Waxahachie, fish it all the time from the bank...I have a spot I love to fish next to ramp. About 50 yrds from the ramp is a fenceline that seperates the park/ram and a house. The homeowner had a fence that extended all the way out into the water. In the last month he has MOVED the fence taking 20-30 ft of the park land and deviated from his original fence line ( I assume property line) and taken that spot I fished out of play. I thought I might have been crazy....nope checked google maps sure has anything he has added to his property. How in the hell is he getting away with that?
