I've had both over the years, the current quality on both brands is awesome. I do like the gradual takeoff on the MK's when I have it on a high setting, don't wanna throw anybody out of the boat, especially me....

I've got a terrova with Ipilot. Absolutely love it. I do question the plastic housing though. I agree that a bridge piling can cause some damage if you get yourself into that situation.

The technology is amazing with the Ipilot capabilities.

I've always ran MG but now have MK on the new boat. Still having trouble getting used to the backwards foot control on the MK. Never had an issue with MG and thats 20 years of using them. If someone were to offer me a new MG 109 50" shaft for trade of my Fortrex 101 I would take them up on it.

I've had the 109 Digital MG and 101 MK foretrex and much prefer the foretrex....Mine was more durable and realiable. My MG had the built in transducer and it leaked 3 separate times...It was a POS.

Have used Motor guide for years and never had a problem. The gator mount is tough and durable. Have 5or 6 friends that went to MK when they got new boats and all of them have had problems with both switches and pull ropes. One nearly lost the head and shaft when a bolt broke at front part of head, thanks but I'll stick to my Tour MG.

I think to provide an opinion on this subject you would need to have owned both as I have. I now run a MK 101 and lets just say I kick myself for not switching years ago. I could never go back to MG even if you gave me one
