Hey everyone,
Im a seasoned angler from the Northeast and Im moving to Dallas for work. If anyone has any suggestions on where to fish saltwater and any recommendations on party boats or B&T shops that are within driving distance from Dallas. Thanks in advance for helping a newcomer out!

Re-do your geography. Galveston isn't the closest saltwater.

Seadrift, Port Lavaca are both closer. I didn't believe it either until I drove it. Catch 77 south at Waco, and you're there.

Interesting. I always thought Galveston was closest. I would certainly rather fish Seadrift.

Thanks in advance for helping a newcomer out! You'll be surrounded by huge bodies of freshwater. Don't burn all that time and gas going to the coast. Fish fresh!

Dallas to Galveston/Freeport - 4.5 - 5 hrs (if you don't stop at Woody's). Tackle stores - FTU www.fishingtackleunlimited.com/ (Houston), Serious Tackle www.serious-tackle.com/ (La Marque) both on I-45 Dallas to Port Aransas (depending on how you go) - 7hrs. Tackle stores - Roy's www.roysbait-tackle.com/ , OTI www.oceantackle.net/Home.html (Corpus), Tackle Town www.rockporttackletown.com/ (Rockport), Port A Outfitters www.islandtackle.com/smf/index.php (Port Aransas). Galveston, Freeport, PO'Connornnor and Port Aransas are the best close places to go offshore. For party boats, Galveston has Galveston Party Boats ( http://www.galvestonpartyboatsinc.com/ ), and Williams Party Boats ( http://www.galvestonfishingboats.com/ ) down on Pier 19, Freeport has the Bluefin www.bluefinfreeport.com/ which may be closer to a charter boat than a party boat (10-12 people). Port Aransas has Deep Sea Headquarters ( www.deepseaheadquarters.com/ ), Dolphin Docks ( http://dolphindocks.com/ ), Fisherman's Wharf ( www.wharfcat.com/ ) Inshore fishing covers pretty much the whole coast from Sabine Pass to South Padre. Texas has extensive bay systems along the coast. BTW, I live in Rowlett which is in east Dallas County, so I've made all these drives and been to these stores. In Galveston, I like the New Buccaneer (Galveston Party Boats) and in Port A I like the Scat Cat (Fisherman's Wharf)

Just head out to lake lewisville on a boat on a windy day if you wanna pretend to salt fish because the dallas aquarium is the only place driving distance from Dallas to see any salt Walter fish lol. Every thing else is hours away.

You're driving from Dallas to the coast and I'm driving through Dallas to get to Texoma. Maybe we should just swap boats.

Port Aransas boat Scat Cat 56 hour tuna trip. Its the most fun salt water fishing you will ever have. Ive been 4 times and from dallas area. caught 75+ 10-30 lb blackfin tuna and a few 100+ Yellow fin tuna. Also 15+ Mahi Mahi and 1 450lb baby blue marlin. Comes with beds bring your own food/drink/equipment and it is a giant boat and they limit number of people to ensure no crowding like on most party boats. Can carry 90 people they only take 24.
