Hey guys,
The two Humminbird Wide 100s on my 16ft bass boat have finally bit the dust.
I am in the process of upgrading and just ordered an Elite 7 HDI for the bow from David at Shut up and fish.
My original intention was to mount an HDS 8 with Structure Scan on the console, but I
want some opinions on if it is really necessary.
Would ram mounting the Elite 7 on the console with a swivel so I can turn it towards the bow be a better option?
The money isn't the issue here. I'm just curious if two large screens on a 16 footer is overkill.
I bass and crappie fish Toledo Bend mostly.
Any opinions?

never overkill. Mount the 7 transducer on the TM then use the other from the back of the boat.

That's what I was thinking too. I started second guessing myself
after sitting on the bow and seeing how close I was to the console. I guess I can
Still put the HDS 8 on a swivel and turn it forward so I can see the structure scan
Too!

Single with a swivel is more than ample.........UNLESS you do a lot of drop shotting or spoon jigging. In 20'plus then youll miss that trolling motor transducer./
Ya GOTTA poke a hole in 'em!!!!!!!

Get you a Ram mount, that will do just fine.

My boat is not much longer and I really enjoy gps and down imaging on the trolling motor. I think it is a must for deep water because sixteen feet away is a long way on a three foot brushpile....
 Boatless for minute

I have this set up...Elite 7 HDI on a ram mount on the console but the transducer is on the transom...the ram mount works just fine...however I also have a "cheaper" Lowrance 4X DSI on the bow with xducer on the trolling motor...I use this one for identifying structure on the bottom and I have 17 feet until the Elite xducer comes across the identified area...this setup works well for me

Money is a non-issue -- congrats to you!
No doubt an HDS at the console, networked with a 7 at the bow is the way to go if you plan to do any precision structure fishing.

I have a stick steering bass boat with a Humminbird 788CI on the trolling motor universal sonar and a Humminbird 898SI on the transom. I love it Bart

I was told it was a big hassle to network the elite 7 to an HDS because it went through the nmea 2000 port. Is this true? Thanks for the input so far. Greenerbasser - I've been a bank beater for most of my life so I'm not that farmiliar with drop shotting in deep water. This is something I hope these graphs will help me with.
