Minn Kota, no question. I just replaced a 40 year old Minn Kota that ran great (until I broke the seals on the motor). It still ran even with water in it. I replaced it with a 45# Edge model (needed small and 12v) which gives me more power. Hopefully it lasts another 40 years.

In the last 4 years I have had both Min Kota and Motorguide. I liked how easy it was to stow and deploy the min kota, I like the foot petal of the motorguide. Also the mount on the MG is better in rough water. overall the motorguide wins hands down to me, but they are both nice motors

You will get people that love or hate both depending on what they own. I prefer motorguide. I have a tour digital 82 and have run some friends new minn kotas and don't care for them. The plastic pedal feels cheap and it was louder than my motorguide. I like the pedal and head of the motorguide being all metal. Wind has pushed me into docks and bridge pilings that would have shattered the plastic head on a minn Kota and all it did was scratch the motorguide. Minn Kota has always had the reputation for being better in thick vegetation though. Not a big enough reason for me to want one though

If you are going big the 101lb MinnKota Fortex is much better than the 109 Motor Guide. Smoother, quieter, more solid, less maintainance, stows easier...Not a speculation but based on experience. Me and several friends with both brands. Hands down the MK! IMHO. Flip side is you'll like either!

I have had both and like Motorguide because I like the foot control much better.

If you're going to get a minn Kota, get a fortrex. Their other motors are trash IMO

I like mtorguide better other than battery life idoubt I could between the 82 digital and the 101 minkota
The foot control built in transducer and bracket makes the mg a better fit for me
Thanks, Billy

Hands down minnkota fortrex, you won't be sorry. I made the mistake twice and bought a new mg tour. Had problems with both and sold them within 6 months.

Worked on MGs for 13 years. Dependable durable BUT ive since become convinced MK is a better designed and engineered motor. Both are able to get the job done.
Ya GOTTA poke a hole in 'em!!!!!!!

My personal preferance is the minnkota. The motor guide foot petal is to narrow for my liking. Also the stow and deploy is 10 times better. I have a maxxum 101 with built in transducer and have had the tour motorguides and id choose minnkota hands down.

Guess its what you've owned and what experiences you've had. I've owned both MG and MK-for me the Minn Kota is hands down a better TM-quieter, more reliable.
But this is most likely a Ford/Chevy argument.
