Great read, and a potential life saving lesson for many of us. The next time I'm in a kayak and decisions have to be made, I will remember your story. Thanks for sharing.

If it was last Thursday then yes. I was picking up the Revo13 for some testing. Sorry I didn't get to meet you. Always good to put names and faces together and swap some stories!

Thanks! I've been kayak fishing over 10 years now. It gets better every year. Welcome to the addiction and congrats!

Chris,Great story, it's amazing how a event like this will stick with you and the great lesson it provides, if you survive. I had a bad weather event back when I was in High School, many years ago. We were in a small Bass Boat on a big lake and there were several boats swamped during this storm. We saw the storm coming and headed to the ramp in plenty of time to load and be safe, however as we were working our way out of the timber our motor developed a problem and would jump out of gear, every time I would get on plane it would jump into neutral. Somehow we made it back, thank god for a oversized bilge pump.
Today I keep an eye on the weather more than most and will probably be the first one to head to the truck or hit the bank.
To bad we can't obtain this experience without going through one of these types of events.
Thanks for sharing your story.

Great Story. All I can say is be careful everyone. I have had my share of weather when out on the river, being prepared is the key for sure.

Thanks for the stories guys, I'm new to kayak fishing and always learning something. It's fun, but safety is something that must be practiced in everything. The Lord does watch over us!

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

Don't rely to much on the Nexrad products on your smart phone.
They are a wonderful product and very helpful but always remember there is a lag (up to 30 minutes) in what's really happening and what you see on your Nexrad. A bad storm can develop and be on top of you before it ever shows up on Nexrad.
