Any good primitive coffee makes out there? I like my coffee, and I love camping, so why can't I have both?

Something I can use over an open fire will be fine

Any help would be great thumb

I use a little stainless percolator when I'm away but I use it on a propane burner. You pretty much have to babysit it while it's working or it gets a little crazy. As much coffee grounds as I end up with in a cup I think I could just throw it in a pot and sit it on a fire. Maybe go old school and throw some egg shells in to settle the grounds.

I've heard cold water will settle the grounds as well.

Looking at either the Coleman that sits on the stove, or the stand alone that uses a small propane bottle

I just need good coffee for all these camping trips coming up

When we camp where electricity is we just use a regular Mr coffee machine, the few times we primitive camp we just take instant coffee and boil water.

I use an enameled percolator pot. I take coffee filters put the coffee in and tie it with chefs string. No grinds in your coffee and cheaper then the coffee bags. Works on fire or propane stove.

I use a GSI java pro drip coffee maker . It's lightweight and simple (like me) Makes pretty good coffee too.
I've heard those French Presses are good too.

Use a percolator and once it's brewed pour in thermos.

French press

Course ground coffee for the percolator

Drip camp coffee pot.

My Grandad use to just dump the coffee in his blue enamel pot and boil it. Once it was done he'd set it off the fire and crack an egg in it. The egg would grab the grounds right before it would set and he never had grounds in his coffee. I've never tried it just seen it done.

My buddy started using dental floss instead of chefs string. Easy and compact so passing it along.
