I'm planning to go out to upper Laguna madre on Sunday and I was wondering if anyone had any particular lure and color that has been working lately. My 13 yld son will be with me on a boat. We'll be chasing reds and trout. Any suggestions well taken!

Cool. How do you fish the spoon. I have one but I've never used it.

vary your retrieve till you find what they like... i start out with a straight retrieve about normal speed and will vary from there... you really cant do it wrong with a spoon...

I'll have to get some plum with chartreuse tail. Sounds like they work well. I'm hoping the weather permits to go out on Sunday.

Well we went out yesterday and I couldn't believe how dirty the water looked. Now I know what they mean by brown tide. Needless to say we ended up with no keepers, however it was still fun to be out on the water. I'm planning to go again next weekend maybe we'll have better luck.

Always good to be on the water... in Brown Tide use black lures. Black Chartreuse head she dog and Black/Char Kelly Wiggler Ball Tail Shad with a small rattle.

Thanks for the info I'll keep that in mind next time (hopefully next weekend). We were using popping cork with live shrimp. Caught one rat red and a few small trout but no keepers. We then headed to the intercostal, anchored and casted to the drop off but just a few small trout and hard heads. We fished for 4 hours and left right before the storm hit us. Literally 5 minutes after we trailered up, it started raining cats and dogs.
