I have a Stealth 14. My avg speed is 2-3.5 I have had it to 5.8 but I was tired after a couple of minutes of that.

went 5.8 on outback with turbo fins trying to go fast as i could go. 3.2 is good cruising speed. could peddle forever.

I don't always catch fish, but when I do, I prefer Dos Hybrids

I noticed I average about 2.8-3.3 just normal paddling. Never tried to see how fast I can go. 2012 Ride 135.

My top speed in a kayak would be different than yours. If we get a GTG without monsoon winds we might could have you try sprints in a lot of different boats based on your paddle stroke or pedal as it may be.

I would take a Hobie AI against any kayak out there for top speed, even without the sails. Lightning on the water. The Revolution probably behind that one. We need to race! That could be fun at a GTG. Sprints and relays!

10 years ago I could get over 6 to blink on gps with big bladed paddle for a few seconds with no wind, waves, or current, that I could tell. Perception Illusion, 14'3 length, 27 inch beam. A month ago I was coming in and gave it a shot to see how much I had "lost" in speed. Same kayak, except hull is no longer smooth or rigid, have gone to a small bladed carbon fiber paddle, still getting gps to blink 4.9 to 5.2 for very short distance.

I've covered 6 miles in just over an hour in my sink Old Town Loon 111. The OT loon is a low profile fast paddle compared to a SOT of any size. Without a powerful paddler pushing for all their worth most fishing yaks just don't move that fast..

All this talk of speed has me thinking about some of the old sit on tops that could fly.

Just wondering if anyone ever demoed the Current Designs Zone. Now this kayak had some speed.
