We're looking to settle in the Tyler, TX area-most likely on Lake Palestine. I've fished all over TX but never this lake-heard good things about it, just wondered what opinions are. I know Lake Fork is just up the road but the wife wants to be near a decent sized city for shopping, restaurants and all that culture stuff.

Pull of some tournament results. It's kicks out some really big bags, may cost you a lower unit or 2.

Lake Palestine is an awesome lake. Take your time and get to know your way around and you will not have any trouble. You can have a good time catching all types of fish. Its an awesome bass lake. the Sandbass, Hybrid, and Crappie fishing is top notch as well.

Lake Palestine looks like it would be a nice place to live. Tyler has everything you would need and put you within a hours drive of a bunch of the good lakes. And Lake Palestine is a good lake! Are you a Colorado lib? If so we don't need you. Dang. Harsh. I've fished Palestine many times and I love the lake. As others have said, great bass lake, but excellent for other fish as well. Lots of timber, but as with any lake, it just takes some time to learn. Besides the lakes in the area (of which there are many), the Tyler area is a great place to live. My parents still live in Flint and every time I go back I'm amazed at how beautiful it is. Great area with great opportunities for fishing.

Good, the last thing we need are more lib's floating around Tx.
I hear palestine is great but I've never actually fished it. I'm going to this Wednesday for the first time and I've lived in the area all my life.
You also have Tyler (decent lake, smart fish), Athens which is great, Fork which everyone knows about, and Lake o'Pines which I grew up next to but haven't fished in 15 years or more even though I know it's a great bass lake.
Year round is definitely doable here, I just wear some goretex and a save face mask in the winter and I'm good year round. Tyler is also a great little city, has plenty of golf, shopping, etc and you're not far from Dallas or Shreveport either.

I fish year round. Palestine is a great lake. Tyler is a tough lake to fish. Athens, Fork, Tawokani, Ray Hubbard, Lake O'the Pines, and others are all close.
Tyler has everything you need, and if it doesn't the internet is at your fingertips!

Fished the lake my whole life. Finally got a little place on the lake. My boat has not seen other lakes since I moved here in 04. Its a great fishery and as stated earlier its full.
I hear lake Tyler has a hole in the dam.
