It's raining pretty good down here right now , I just got my camper set up at cedron and its been raining for the last hour here. I feel like a dumb butt also because I didn't check to see if my yac would fit with the camper behinds and guess what it didn't so I am yak less this weekend

Headed down on Saturday to meet up with Rod_763. Got on the river at 9am. We saw a few groups of floaters heading down river, but it was pretty quiet overall. Threat of ran and overcast all morning. First part of the day was a little slow. I hooked up with a couple little largemouths and a nice sized channel cat on a power grub. Made it down to the big gravel sandbar just when the skies unleashed and it rained solid for 20 minutes. Rod_763 and I fished through it, cuz, you know, the fish bite better in the rain Since fishing was slow and weather wasn't the best, Rod_763 decided to call it a day. I wasn't gonna give up my freedom day that easily, so I stayed to fish it out. And I was never so glad I did! After the rain, the fish started popping all over. I switched up techniques and netted some big fat minnows. The minnows were the ticket to success! Some of the results: ::continued

My First Striped bass from the river!! About 18-19 inches. My little ruler only went to 16 The colors on these river bass aree Amazinbg. So Pretty! Overall, it was the best fishing in a day that I've had yet. At one point while wading around one area, I had 3 lines out, and fish on 2 of them while I was trying to untangle the third. Uncounted River bass, one big blue (measured 24 inches) several channels, 2 feisty gar, and a drum. Greatness! Last time I use Black braided line in clear water. And next time if there's a chance of rain I'll try to at least bring a towel on the yak.

Yeah, I mentioned to you after the fact that I too had an unproductive trip once when I was using braid as the main line. Water very clear = do not use braided line. Lesson learned I wanna hit the river again as soon as I can. Good times every time...

yep. the river below whitney is pretty darn clear, plus its kind of heavily fished too really. I use mono and live bait when fishing for the bass. but that's just me.

I missed our annual Memorial day trip to the river this year but the other guys did! They had a good time but didn't catch a lot of fish.. I'll make the trip sometime but right now I just can't say when
