Was out Sat morning for about 5 hours.
Found them in a foot to about 10 feet on points.
All fish caught on topwaters and wake baits.
Most 25-26 inches-had one break off beside the boat that would have been about 30 inches.
Highport area.

Here's what I do.

1. Use your fish finder to locate a school. Don't troll empty water, as its a waste of time.
2. Select a crankbait and jig combination that will troll at the correct depth. Note, I normally troll two jigs above a crankbait. I can get as deep as 24 feet with this. 90% of the hits come on the crankbait.
3. For ledges and dropoffs use a chain bead or big sinker instead of the crankbait. Use only one pole with this technique. Keep the pole in your hand and pull it off the bottom every time it hits. Fish hit on the pull.
4. Troll at 1.5 MPH or less.
5.If you troll through the school 2-3 times without success, go find another one. I normally catch one to two fish per school. Be prepared to be fooled by schools of small stripers as they are in the same areas as the crappie. A fun distraction, as you'll catch three at once.

Good luck.

Thanks to everyone that posted advice. I will take this and give it a try. We went out Friday afternoon and ended up catching a single striper, which was about 8-10 inches long. I will get this figured out at some point, I just have to stay persistent. We fished over near the islands at High Port. I think we had the right idea as we were marking a lot of fish as well as bait fish. We just didn't come prepared to fish as deep as all the fish were. Back to the drawing board!

Just to update...

We are improving somewhat. Still pretty spotty fishing for us. I guess I expected more schooling of the shad than I'm seeing. Do these Stripers on Texoma just not do that like I've seen other places?
