I have a friend Ive gotten into kayaking and he just cannot catch a fish to save his life. "No its not yak-n-aggie" Anyway he's getting very discouraged and ready to sell the kayak haha. Doesn't help we've only gone to the vine, marine creek, and palestine. Any good honey holes where his odds will go up? I've thought about the grass lands but even there is so-so

There's a pond at the corner of 35 and Highland Village Rd right before you cross the LL bridge. I've never been skunked there that I can remember. I haven't been in a while but I would always catch them on a t rig lizzard in green pumpkin. Just work the banks where there is vegetation and he'll get bit. I've only hooked up with one good one from there but there's plenty of 14-17" fish to catch.

LBJ grasslands. They will be small, but there will be numbers there.

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Have you watched him fish? If so, is there anything obvious he is doing either with his set-up or technique? If you are catching fish and he isn't, understand the difference and see if you can correct it.

That's good to know, it's close for me and more importantly, it's FREE!! I went out one afternoon and had no luck but will certainly try again after reading this.

I killed them Sunday, but the hybrids never showed up, but that's all I'll say, unless you come with me

Not sure what kind of fish you are after but if just any fish will do, he can perch jerk at south lake and prob get several bass in the process. If he's just needing to get the feel for managing fishing from a yak, it's a good lake - shallow, small enough to not be intimidating, a few different fishing environments to try (grass, pads, open water), easy launch. I want to get the wife out there so she can get comfortable managing a kayak, poles, casting, catching, etc.

Most all the area lakes shad are shallow
so the bigger fish are shallow early in
the morning from daylight to 9, 10, 11am.
Pick the closest lake to you, ask questions,
do a little research, check the weather,
then go get em, simple as can be...
cheers
