fished bnsf pond on way home off western center. Made first cast and caught one. security showed up, told me he was just giving me a warning and I should keep on fishing while bnsf railroad police showed up. kinda nervous but I took him up on it and caught another on my second cast of the day. Made three casts total and caught two fish. small but still annoying I can't go back or I get a real ticket. Real nice guys though. If anyone works for bnsf you can fish there legally, oh yeah message me before ya go and I'll meet you there. good little pond for numbers.

Go at night. Wear black, use a black rod/reel and a black jitterbug. They will never know your there if they can't see you. Just quit Booyahing when you catch one.

I work there. Would not recommend you try it again. BNSF cops will arrest you for trespassing. You won't get a ticket. You will go to jail.

You got lucky. They ususally take it a lot more serious and ticket you or haul you away. Those BNSF cops usually don't have much tolerance. Nice guys but they are by the book. We were told we could fish there if we let them know and get it cleared but I never have. We run some calls with them and do some training there at times.

Tcb, It's not about being upity it is about security. It has gotten alot more emphasis since 9/11. FWIW, they don't even let BNSF employees fish out there once they retire.

They are a major transportation powerhouse. They are as subsceptibale to terrorist attacks as anything. A lot of their planning and logistical processes happen there and they are very guarded and rightfully so. Attacking them can cut off goods to a lot of areas. Some of the HazMat stuff in the form of chemicals and gases that they transport can do a TON of major damage. They are simply a target to some people with not so good intentions.

My wife and I use to jog on that trail when we lived in across the street from there in alexandria meadows , and never had a problem . Maybe they just don't like people fishing. I had no idea it was illegal or we wouldn't of ran there.

Why would anyone think that going onto private property and fishing without permission would be a good idea in the first place? You must not have grown up in the country, because we learned at a young age that trespassing is a good way to get a hind end full of rock salt.

If it was me I'd be more worried about living within 30 miles of any of there main tracks . Just wait until they have a haz mat pileup some early morning hours when all folks are sleeping. What they could do to for trespassing is nothing compared to that. I worked for them for 30 yrs. and I guarantee ya I don't live within 30 miles of any class 1 railroad.
