Still a record fish. Other tackle record on the Brazos is 70 lbs. Either way nice fish.

That's a heck of a fish from the Brazos. I got a 75 three years ago and it was a fish of a lifetime from a river. They get way bigger in lakes. River fish have to work for a living and have more obstacles to deal with. Someone earlier quoted it to be Keith's tournament. That is correct for sure. I would bet a ton of coins that it was caught on a throwline and it fed a bunch of people at a very fun fish fry. Fish like that eat a lot of box fish. The brazos is awesome but not for the weenies of the world. It's tough to fish but can be very rewarding. Congrats on a great yella Jason!

Featherduster,

Smoky noted 127 pounds so you must have had that in there before editing. To me, from trying to figure in at the angle of the pic shot, looks between an 85 to 105 pounder. But that has to do with the possibilties created by the angle shot which can make it appear larger.

Who/What/When/How???

... and Did????

Who caught it?
What did it weigh & what was it caught with & on?
When was it caught?
And How was it caught (method)?

... and of course Did it get submitted/certified for any record(s)? Naturally a Big Fish Award is in order.

Yes, the current record (as to someone submitting it), was an 114# Yellow in Lake Livingston, as noted also by RL206.

If'n we ever catch "The Giant", I am sure it will go past the 114# Lake Livingston record.

Well, for some reason, this thread did not show it had 2 more pages. Then it got hung as I posted. So I see that it has been trimmed down to a 76 pounder. Like I noted, angle shots can sometimes make a Cat look much larger than in actuality. It also seems the people or stepped back a tad which also distorts its exact size or length. I used to always take pics of fair cats by a 48 Qt Igloo so you could tell exactly how big a Cat was. Except for the bigger ones.

Anyways, it definitely is still a nice sized Cat. Guess I know where you will be soon ScooterG & the rest of you. Where there's a 76, there's bound to be a 77. One of my YellowCat teachers & I fished the areas of TX 21 bridge (from upriver to the 2nd rockwall down river to the Little Brazos River). He mainly stuck to the first Rockwall area upriver.

And its nice to know "The Giant" still has a very good shot at the Texas YellowCat record. Speaking of IT, it left me two "notices" on one trotline last Saturday night/Sunday morning (18/19) as it came by to say Hi & Bye. In the area it has hit in IT's pathways ... had one Mustad 6/0 SS hook bent out (reminds me of the one same kind it did it to while I was setting out, adding hooks & baiting out- took me & the boat back 6 to 10" before cruising on). And then another leader which had a 12/0 or 13/0 special Eagle Claw South American Salt Water offset trotline hook (Special Thanks to Ben) tied directly to mainline with a Hitch knot & single knot on each side to prevent sliding, yet it slid it midways to the next leader. It has to be really big to do that. So I know "The Giant" came back after the drought & is in its old stomping grounds & using the same pathway. I had some really big perch on those larger hooks too.

I guess I will be picking out another YC weekend and may have to "stake it out" (run constantly during the night from Midnight to 10 AM about every 2-3 hours) in order to finally catch this monster. My main worry is due to the lake being down (and the P/U too), I am using the 12' Porta-Bote of my sister's. So, to try & prevent another swim like I had on T-Day 2011, I may just have to put IT to sleep before pulling it in.
