I have a 03 90hp Merc 2-stroke. It was running fine till a few days ago. It would crank up real easy, but after a few seconds, the rpm's would go down and die. Still crank up real easy and do the same thing. If I gave it some gas, it would die immediately. Yesterday I pushed the key in every time it was about to die to keep it running, and after a long time of doing that it started running fine. What do you think was causing this?

I thought maybe air was the problem, but the primer bulb stayed firm.

Definitely check for a water issue but a lot of times when choking the engine makes it run better then you have a fuel restriction or dirty carbs. Definitely check your fuel system though. That's where I would start.

Thanks fellas. That is possible because I noticed a lil bit of water standing on top of my tank. It ran fine last night so I guess it ran through. If it happens again, I'll check that.
