I tried the mullet, before only caught 1 fish.I didn't like the movement they gave under water. It seemed like it was always on its side. Could have just be me though. I used gold glitter.

The older I get, the less [censored] I drag around. I carry two plastics: Hogie super minnow. Pumpkin/chart, Red/white, white/chart Norton Sand eel. pumpkin/chart, Baffin magic Always rigged on a 1/8 oz Oldham screw lock head w/gamakatsu hook. The best head ever. I do powder coat them hot pink. Something in those five will work every single day. The sand eels get the nod in clearer water, or when I'm pursuing the wiley flounder, minnows when there's a stain or the fish are really active. [img:center] [/img]

These are the colors that he said he sells most off for the Texas coast. Thanks for the tip.

If you have a bass fishing buddy, have them show you how to fish a bass assassin. The sand eel is exactly the same, I glide then twitch on a slack line to make it dart sideways. That's when it gets hammered.
It's also what I usually rig up the noobs with a mauler cork. The eel dancing under the cork is quite productive.

Never used the sand eels but I love using the TTF trout killer in pumpkin white with a chart tail, pretty much the same concept as the sand eel. I've caught more fish on that lure than I can count.

I'm by no means pimping a lure company. What I was trying to get across, it's not rocket science and you don't need 600 lbs of plastic to tag a redfish, trout or flounder.
Find the type you're happy with, and learn to use it, if you're in fish, it'll work. I'm pretty basic, my neighbor in seadrift is way more, he has ONE plastic, plum/chartreuse Norton bull minnow. That's it. And he is as successful as anyone around.

Rootbeer and the one like the pumpkin seed but with a little glitter are my favorites for the grassy areas, usually run a weedless set up with 2 ft of 20 lb fluorocarbon.

I've pretty much thrown the DOA CAL 3" Shad Tail as my exclusive softplastic for about 6 years now with great success. I mainly throw Copper Crush, Rootbeer/Chartreuse, Red/Silver/White, and Purple/Chartreuse. It's really building confidence in throwing softplastics, brand doesn't matter much.
If I hit the water with just a Silver Mullet Spook Jr., a 1/4oz weedless Gold spoon, and a 1/8oz jighead with one of the color softplastics I mentioned (color depending on conditions) I will catch fish. Those three are my confidence baits.
