I've read the thread about top 10 favorite lures and the red rattletrap seemed to be mentioned more than once. I own a chorme/blue 1/2oz rattle but and interested in getting a red one now. There are so many to chose from. There are several types of red. Electric red, Red Shad, Red Crawfish, bleeding this, bleeding that..Lets hear your favorite color and why. I want specifics. Thank You

Strike King Red Eye Shad, 1/2 oz, sexy Shad. The size is most consistent with the size of the bait fish ( match the hatch ), the color seems to get bit better then some other bait fish patterns, and the brand flutters when you let it free fall.

Toledo Gold (or Rayburn gold) Excalibur XR-50 standard, not one knocker.

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

1/2 or 3/4 oz Red in the early spring during prespawn.
Now - 1/4 oz Chrome Black back or Chrome Blue Back. (Smaller shad and bait fish.)
Summer Time - 1/2 oz Chrome Blue or Chrome Black. (Larger shad).

Just a general rule of thumb.

(AND another less used and little known Trap is the Floating Rattle Trap. Works great over shallow grass or along the shoreline or in between the bushes. You can reel it really slow or faster and it will go about 1' deep.) thumb
