Has anyone done the new HDS gen 1 software updates yet if so does it really take a SD card with 59MB. i had purchase a 8G wich has 20MB but i guess it's too small acoording to the download page. If it really takes 59MB then it will take at least a 24G SD card. I'm no computer wis so please some one correct me on the card size. if need be i'll take the 8G card back and get a bigger one.

Not sure about the download, but 59 MBs will easily fit on an 8 gig card, 1 gb equals 1024 mbs.

Saw another thread that said Lowrance no longer supports gen 1....no more updates.

It will accept a card up to 32g.

You have your MB and G confused..... As stated above, there are 1024 MB in 1 Gigabyte, so your 8G card is 12X larger than you need.....
As far as the updates the latest is the 4.1 update for Generation 1 units. 4.1 came out almost a year ago.

I updated mine on a 4 gig sd card,no trouble
