Can anyone point me in the right direction on finding a guide in Louisiana or Texas that can handle a small group of 3 fishermen and put us on some Mahi?

Most all the Gulf guides can put you on Dolphin..If you are wanting for the Holiday coming up..Go to City of Port Aransas Chamber of commerce...This site will display most guides in the area for Gulf Charters..or call this # 361-758-6900...they will charter or find you someone..Good luck!

Catching dolphin on bass gear is a blast. I have only done it
on a couple of occasions , but it is sooooo much fun.

Do guides catch these on casting rigs? I've only had experience with trolling

I fish for Dolphin off the east coast by Boyton Beach with my cousin...he uses 4/0 reels for Dolphin...but then again a 30 lber isn't rare for him...and there is always a chance at a sailfish or other larger predators..

I've only done this in the Keys. Blue water is 5 minutes from
the dock.

You are smart to do your research before booking.
The only guide I have used offshore in Texas was/is a Big Goober
I would not recommend him. ( He does have the Texas media fooled
and gets mentioned in a lot of articles about Texas costal fishing.)
Good luck

Just find a rip and troll until you find the fish, then start chumming. We caught chicken dolphin all day on flies and trout rods. Was fun.
