We had good sandie crappie and bass action past few weeks. No hybrids recently. SANDIES WE Limited out in an hour. They were loving them white rooster tails! What catfish we caught were few but bigger than average. Rattle traps, jigs, minnows ,shad, worms and night crawlers were used. most of the crappie action was on White and chartruse heads attached any thing bright red, worked the best, several 12" 13" crappie hit white jig heads with shad. one day the shad were all over the shore thick. That day only juveniles were caught. Next day hardly no shad in the cast nets, used white rooster tails and sandies were fast and furious. couldn't find a crappie in the bunch. The next morning early 4ish A.M. the lake was calm as glass, but no crappie hitting anything. Even hooked up the green, blue, white and red spotlights pointing in water. No shad in nets. No crappie no sandies, no catfish, nothing in tackle box getting bites except rattle traps several big large mouth bass showed off their excellent tail walking bait tossing abilities. A friend said they fished around the bridge and marina and quickly limited out on big slabs. WE Haven't been back since the rains yet.

Oh ya sandies frequently school. Found them going nuts around the point out of love park. I usally fish a crappie rod (no reals) one in each hand. had to set one down and real in the spincasters dragging floats and jigs. Couldn't keep up with the action on more than one rod at a time. LOL

Several times it was barely still morning 11:30ish. Twice 2:30ish afternoon in the whitecaps.Rooster tails and lil georges right under the surface. Fast retrieve 4- to 6 foot of water. early mornings found them in 2-3 foot of water casting parallel with shore, maybe 15-20 feet out. Crappie several times was good , 18 inches under a small bobber, 1/8 oz and smaller chartruse and white jig heads long as anything red was attached. In the calms both evening and early mornings the bigger Bass were active. rattle traps. Havent launched the boat since before getting the inflatable SEA EAGLE :-)

Windy no sandies, (hybrids, bass, or crappie) were chasin junk outta my box. Switched back to catfish rods, Box of livers and shrimp. Ran outta livers first, biggest fish on shrimp. They still knows all about sneaking all them baits off different hooks too! Circle hooks out performed everything else. When I got home Sweetie added them catfish morsels to the sandie and crappie batch she was frying up. Cold fillets outa fridge is good too. Freezer has bags of sandie/crappie fillets from this spring. Lakes is still 3 feet low.

I got a late start Sat, looks like all the boats beat me there. I was Last boat (only yak or canoe in sight)in. I also was the First one out of the water at launch love park. 14 sandies caught in 12 -15 foot water depth. Most were caught on white 1/8 OZ. jig heads with red tails. most were caught under a small bobber 2 feet down. The rest were on same jig head same small bobber 4 feet deep. nothing on 1/8 Oz. chartruse with red below a bigger bobber 4 feet down. a few smaller ones caught in 8-10 foot depth on the 2 feet down jig/bobber rig. Boats using rattle traps, bombers, lil georges ect. in deeper waters produced a few lil ones . One boat fishing with minnows tight against concrete stuff caught 4 nice crappies. Didn't see or here of anyone catching catfish.

No! 12 foot telescoping jigging pole 1 each hanging over each side (pointing to front or back depending which way I am paddling.) 15 foot of line bobbers and jigs. spinning reel with a diving lure, or a casting rod/reel with a bigger bobber and jig. paddle into wind drift back. have to pay attention not to tangle lines. Usually Leave the catfish stuff for the banks or boat. Can really take some high winds too. folds up quickly and goes as a back pack for hiking adventures and goes as luggage on plane.
