Been using a lot of worms, lizards, and other soft plastics ever since I first started fishing for LMB. Friend has informed me that rat l traps and hard crankbaits are effective as well. Gonna make a trip to cabelas or academy soon which ones have yall had the most success with? Especially in small ponds which I typically fish

Sounds like you're just starting out. Start with the strike king kvd squarebills and and redeye shads. Then once your hooked you can start dropping serious coin on lucky craft, megabass, jackall, etc.

xcalibur xr 50 one knocker is a deadly trap. KVD squarebills. That should do it.

I'd would recommend the H20 Xpress Baits(Academy)... If you look hard enough, you'll find some on clearance/marked down... Great baits and reasonable too.

Here is another nod for the Excalibur baits, but I would go with the regular XR-50, not the one knocker, or buy both. Hope this helps.
Tight lines, keep safe and goo luck.

Try original Rat-L-Trap. Get a 1/4 oz for pond fishing.

Go to Bass Pro and look for the small boats full of lures.. load up on lipless cranks and top waters.. 10 lures for the $25 bucks.. this'll get you started with a nice selection.. those $2 dollar lures catch bass!

Preciate it brother! so the Excalibur baits I can most likely find at academy? those sound like they are reasonably priced

My dad had a few 1/2 ounces in his tackle box and I was thinking about trying them out but you think they might be too heavy/big for ponds?
