Hey guys smile I'm new to the forum and I'm hoping y'all can help a woman out! I'm planning on taking a few friends fishing for their first time but I don't have a boat (like I'm used to having) anymore and was wonder where some good bluegill spots are? Anywhere we can get to by foot for coves, etc?

Kinda need a general location to help you out. Otherwise we could be giving you spots hundreds of miles away.

Blanco State Park in Blanco Texas on the Blanco River is a great place to relax and catch some sunnies. Lots of shade and bank space. You should not have any problems getting some Sunfish and maybe even a few Bass. There are also some pretty good restaurants and a couple of fast food places close by. Hope this helps out some. It is not in the area where you live but well worth paying a visit. eeks

Side Note: welcome To the Texas Fishing Forum. Glad to have you on board. cheers

I've never been there but have seen some posts about good success at Benbrook Lake...I think. If you are willing to drive a couple hours, Fairfield Lake State Park is really coming back. We did quite well there in March (the cove near campsite 108/109 opposite the boat ramp)... they should be on their beds there now. It's a warm water lake. Had a huge fish kill a couple years ago but it is doing well now.

Pray for a return to our Constitution.

The pond in Randol Mill Park in Arlington should be good for kids. You could picnic and when they get tired of fishing, there is a playground. It is west of Arlington Stadium, maybe 3 miles down Randol Mill Road.

Thanks smile
No kids though. I'll keep the spot in mind!

Really? What caused the fish kill? I haven't been fishing for a while now.

A few lake here in TX are subject to algae blooms which sucks the oxygen right out of the water and make it extremely hard for fish species to live and causes huge die offs its just a sad part of the circle of life, also Joe pool is a good lake to fish or lake lewisville, at lewisville there is a fishing barge where a few fellow TFFers fish often and during the summer is climate controlled if that may be something your interested it

Its not about how deep you can fish but by how you wiggle your worm

Go to Coppell. Every one of the ponds and channels by the houses are loaded with gills. Just get some worms and catch until you get tired.

If you can make it down to the hill country you will have alot of choices. Kerrville has the Guadalupe river, Ingram has the Guadalupe River, San Marcos has San Marcos and Blanco rivers and Blanco has Blanco river. If you get a chance to fish any of these places you should not be disappointed
