Well I had my first problem with my power poles, somehow one of the hydraulic lines inside the pole got pinched, I had noticed that one pole was not retracting up tight for awhile now, today I pulled down on that pole and then i seen the fluid shoot out, oh well I still have one that will work until the other is fixed.

Had a similar problem a few weeks ago. New line and fluid, on my doorstep in 2 days. Free. Just be sure to install that line properly, and use the zip ties to secure them!

While at fork this weekend I had one get stuck in the down position because a hose came apart and ran the pump dry. I called J&J Marine and they worked with me over the phone to try to pull it up with a rope. No go. The cylinder air locked and three hours later I was hanging off the back of the boat in twenty five feet of water un bolting it from the bracket to remove it from the boat. My buddy and the guy fishing with him got it up and into his boat and it took the both of them to compress it so no way I was going to do it with a rope. My dealer installed it without tightening the compression fittings correctly and that's what caused the problem. Any way props to J&J Marine as I left it down there and I am picking it up Thursday so I can fish the legends tournament this weekend. The best customer service I have ever seen.

Four years and this is my first issue, the good thing is PP stands behind their product and I bet I have a new hose tomorrow.

Watch how many boats are going down the road w/PP's on them then count the people with problems. Pretty solid product and most problems appear minor. Never forget the option of running your boat into shallow water to 'force" the pole up without getting in the water.

Really? i'd be careful with that idea, seems like a good way to damage your mounting brackets, if it really is installed incorrectly.

You are mitaken. Read the manual from PP or go online under FAQ on their website. IDLE into shallows to raise te pole. Great idea and recommended by PP. Not going to damage your bracket or jackplate. Or don't read it and climb out in the deep! Drop your poles in a 30mph wind on a rocky hump. That's way more stress!

ok, but the OP seemed to have an abnormal problem, if it took two men to correct it once the pole was took off the bracket, because it was installed incorrectly. under NORMAL circumstance you are correct. Only my opinion, plus its warm, lucky he didnt have prolems in January!

I actually tried the shallow water thing it did not work and I was still in like 7 feet so too deep for me to jump out. Don't get me wrong I have had the first pole on for a little over a year with no issues. This problem came from a fitting not being installed properly. I love my power poles and would not have a boat without them.

Go to an auto parts store get the fitting much easier its a five min fix and its better than the factory ones which they will put on when they get time cost about 75cents
