With the excess amount of pleasure boaters on the water I decided I am gonna start night fishing to avoid all the idiots on the water. With that being said I have not done a lot of night fishing so a little guidance would be appriciated . I know black spinner bait single Colorado and white crank bait theory. My question is do I just fish how I normally would meaning normal spots and normal baits or is there a way to be more productive at night?

I don't think you have to change much. I think the dark color thing is a bit overblown. You can catch them fine on white spinnerbaits after dark. I personally like a slow rolled chatterbait or a 10 inch worm for night fishing. Topwater can be fun too if you have enough moonlight to see what's going on.

Ive always done well with a 10-12" Black Worm with blue flake.

The Berkley power worm. I dont think either that you "have" to use darker colors, but something that is black sillouettes / contrasts better than anything else and if it gives you more confidence, like it does me, then its a benefit.

Alright well that makes sense thanks guys.most of my fish I did catch were on black trick worms but I could catch any size so next time I will try dragging around a big worm.

I love night fishing. Now that it's not 38 degrees every night I plan to start doing more of it.

I catch a lot of fish on smaller worms at night, too...from finesse worms to 7-inch Power Worms.

Night fishing is the best. I mainly use worms because I have found you really have to slow your retrieve plus any scented lure (especially LFT) is a bonus.

The thing to remember about night fishing is the color isn't really important - it's the silhouette the bait produces that matters. Can color help, for sure. But I think size and shape of bait is way more important. I like a worm with ribs too at night. . .hags are awesome.

Black buzzbait with a ten inch power worm on the trailer. Unbelievable how many bass we would catch at fork at night over grass beds!
