This one came of a Texas rigged fluke in watermelon red magic. This one hit a Bandit Square bill in Sun Perch color. Had 3 more over 16" and more smaller ones than you can shake a stick at. The Trinity has been very good to me this year! On a side note it looks like the shallow saqure bill bite has finally picked up! At least for me anyways.

Sweet man! Nice job! I never fish crankbaits for LMB and I need to start. Just always seem to get hung up. What kind of areas do you pitch crankbaits into? I'm always using t-rigged plastics just because I don't wanna get hung up nonstop.

Aggie, I fished Square Bill Crank Baits for the first time last week and I had the same concerns you did about getting hung up non-stop. Yes you will get hunt up, but not as much as you would think. Plus, at least you are in a kayak so it is easy to get to your bait when you do get hung up. What I found that worked for me was lining up and casting parallel with the bank and dragging it across that. You want it to hit stumps and structure, as it is a reaction bait and the bass go crazy when it runs in the something.

Great catch and photos.
I practice catch and release so the Trinity fish look good to me. lol. I live south of the metro mess, do you know a place to launch without driving downtown?
Still learning to kayak fish with my Hobie Outback.

Didn't necessarily have to be any structure around to get bit either. Bass were cruising the banks looking for an easy meal is my guess. In the summertime though you will need to concentrate more on structure like rocks, laydowns, etc. I had one hot spot I found around some rocks that had a tree underwater. Caught a crappie and 3 lmb all out of the same area. It really is fun once you get the hang of it. I also recently switched to a 5.0:1 ratio reel and oh man what a difference it made. Highly reccomened using whatever the lowest ratio gear reel you have if you dont have a 5 to 1.
