http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/boa/3793639586.html

Stumbled across this boat on C/L the other day, been giving some thought to go take a look at it. It's, for the most part, what I've been looking for.

Any opinions on the hull, smooth dry ride, prone to any sorts of structural failure (transome, etc)

How had would it be to rip that carpet up & go back with that "bay boat" style floor( that kind of speckled fiberglass??)

From what I have seen and heard over the years, check the floor. I have seen a few with soft spots. Also, can by a wet ride in the wond. You can see the hull design in the picture. The front allows the water to spray up and out instead of that last high down turn or at the very least flat to kill that side spray. Not a bad price though if it is in really good shape.

I have a very similar boat and could not be more pleased with it for my use, I fish it all year long winter and summer 1-2 times a week, I am very pleased with it, that's a great price.

It's a wood covered rolled edge hull. As such it needs close inspection of the floors and decks and transoms. It's not a particularly smooth or dry ride, it's made more for shallow bays and flats.

I get down to Matagorda 2 or 3 times a year, the rest of the time it'll be in fresh water

thumb

Dad has a 20 foot redfin. Looks to be the same hull design. They are not the smoothest or driest boats but will get you there shallow if your wanting a shallow bay boat. Looks to have normal wear on it for a boat that age. If everything turns out good (floor, deck, transom). I say go for it!
