The battle of whether to use or not Trokars is best said when considering they are made in the USA. That being said, lets get to the point. Trokars are sharp and slice as they penitrate. To say they lend to greater hookups, would be to say they are superior to a traditional point of any other hook. I don't think you could ever notice this difference. I personally don't like the wire thickness unless I'm fishing for the big bite. So, buying them is more of a personal decision than a personal preference. Gamys and owners are industry standards that Trokar markets against. I think Trokars are comparable option, but not a decisive one. The two for one sale was to get more fisherman to try them. Now that that's over, are you willing to buy American or shop more thriftful? Your decision. I hope this dispells the argument of one being better than the other and big holes and lost fish etc.

Personally I do not buy anything simply cause its made in the USA. I buy what I perceive to be the best product that fits in my budget the best. If it happens to be American then thats a bonus. Its a global economy and quite honestly a lot of the fishing products I prefer are not made here.

No disrespect by any means sir...but I have used just about every kind of hook you can buy! I'm not a keyboard cowboy by anymeans and only comment on what I feel like i can contribute to or a point needs to be made. Gammy's are good hooks...owners are great hooks....but trokars are better than the rest. I truly believe that from time on the water. Trust me when I say that I spend a lot of time on the water. There is not a hook made that I haven't bent on a hook set...but Trokar is the on that bends the least, more durable and keeps a fish pegged the best for me. As for the people that say made in AMERICA doesn't matter....well that's just ASSININE!!! Tell that to mom and pop businesses that are no longer in this country!!!! Good luck with your Global Economy....I still care if my money stays here!!!!

Places like APT thrive because they adapt and understand the concept of customer service and offering product that anglers want. Past that I ain't gonna argue over how you spend yours and I spend mine. As long as we are both happy with our choices then nothing to argue about.

sure they do, and if you notice they are lightning quick with a smooth steady hook set. I use Owner, Mustad and Gammys, I stay away from Sizzle and focus on steak. That being said, I am sure they are good hooks, just not for that money. I feel the same way about McSticks too...

I've used them three times and all three times they've ripped huge holes in the lips of fish and the tips all rolled. I use the gammy g lock wide gaps

+1 The hole will be proportionate to your hookset. You want the hook to peirce the fish. The rip/tear is from the pressure that the angler puts during the hooks set and then as the angler/fish are fighting one another.. Example how many have put a fish cull ring in a fish. They have no holes, you puncture a hole with the clip, later you go to cull that fish and you lift that fish up by the string. Did you notice the tear the fish now has from the added pressure that you and the fish put on the portion of the mouth as they shake back and forth. Mmm hook and cull ring do the same thing. This is simple physics in my book.
I like the trokar, I do not have to set the hook hard at all to get penetration, thus have a less chance of tearing a bigger hole in the fish. All hooks will and can assit in tearing a whole. You want the best, sharpest hook for the best penetration with minimal effort.

I like the Trokar finesse worm hook for drop shotting. I haven't really used any of the other styles. I would like to try the trebles, but they are pretty expensive.

Anyone who says they had to sharpen them has never used them. They do make a huge difference. When a fish bites they are stuck, so it gives me the confidence to take that extra second or two to reel up the slack and set the hook. They are expensive but it is the best hook I have used. They are the only hook I use now. I just weep a little when I lose one.
