I started using them for a while but After hearing so much negativity about them, and losing a handful of fish while using them, I'll use the ones I have left but I will not be buying anymore.

With the exception of their flipping hooks. Those are bad to the bone.

some people on here are saying that it takes less pressure to set the hook and nonsense like that....so in essence they are saying they are laying off their hooksets? im willing to bet NOT or i could just be me. i always try to cross eyes and get em to the boat as fast as i can no matter what brand hook im fishing...but the owners cutting point vs trokars tri points, owners is what i will put my money on time and again. i also said previously vmc too. this is because i like their new eyes and offset bends they put into the hooks. i can easily do that to owners but i just rather spend my time fishing. the only advice worth giving is that you buy a pack of each and spend some time on the water to decide what you like better.

They have no holes, you puncture a hole with the clip, later you go to cull that fish and you lift that fish up by the string. Did you notice the tear the fish now has from the added pressure that you and the fish put on the portion of the mouth as they shake back and forth. Mmm hook and cull ring do the same thing. This is simple physics in my book.

I like the trokar, I do not have to set the hook hard at all to get penetration, thus have a less chance of tearing a bigger hole in the fish. All hooks will and can assit in tearing a whole. You want the best, sharpest hook for the best penetration with minimal effort.

Comparing them to Gammy, I don't notice a difference except on the price tag.

So I don't see the point in using them.

as for the hooksets, those that are watching MLF, what Tak, Jones, Erhler and others, they do not cross their eyes, they don't real down and go wham. Granit you see some go on point but I don't think they cross their eyes at all that put steady quick pressure on their hookset. Just saying. I like the trokar and really like their flipping hooks, which is what I use the majority of the time anyway.

dflipper, I would like to see you straighten out a 4-5/0 gammy straight shank super line hook. I can't do that with 60# braid tied to a cleat.

I use a ton of them and even build a ton of jigs on them. I have yet to have an issue. Even my spinnerbaits and bladed jigs are built on Trokars. Only ones I use though on plastics are the straight shanks.
That being said I tried the VMC flipping hooks and they are damn nice too.

I used some for the first time a few weeks ago. I personally thought they were pretty good and had no issues.

I have used them and personally i think i set the hook too hard for these hooks. Not to mention they dont stay up well on a very soft plastic like a yamamato senko or a berkely powerworm.
