I've been making mandatory weekly trips with the wife to Durant, OK. for the past couple of months. So of course I had to hit Texoma. I had only fished this lake with a guide and had never been solo, let alone from the bank. I knew it had killer stripers, but I didn't know how to fish for them. I got skunked my first 2 or 3 times out. I was able to get some largemouths and a few crappie, but that's not really what I was going for. Finally, after lots of research on youtube, the TFF and a little local info, I'm in!

These are just the most recent pics, within the last 2 weeks. The first 2 pics are of at that time was my biggest striper(non guided) ever. Close to 4lbs. The following week(this past Tuesday evening) I hooked up with a 7lber! It ran like crazy!!

These were both caught off one of points at Lake Texoma State Park. I have found some awesome places to catch sandies all day. If any of you guys are interested, I'll gladly post/share the locations.

All fish caught were photographed and released. I'm not much for cleaning them, I fish for the enjoyment of the catch. I'll eat em.. just don't have the tools/resources to clean them.

I was using these 2 baits:

Rebel Jumpin Minnow T10 Silver Black (not the T1000)
and
Storm Rattlin' Chug Bug - Bleeding Shad 3.25"

I did use Sassy Shads and ended up with LM's and then used minnows for crappie.

Just wanted to pass along some real world current info since the TFF has made my fishing 100% better!

Stripers are up close to the bank now. Any point is going to be good fishing.

That pattern will hold as long as the shad are spawning. Earlier the better an hour before first light and you can find some action. If there is cloud cover even better. I don't know if you had heard about beating an oar on. the side of the boat but I like to throw some ripe of topwater popper first cast and really rip it quick the first few cast. I feel the added commotion will really draw in the fish from a distance. Just be carefull on texoma if you are actually harvesting fish the fourth pic down looks to be a sunshine bass(male striper x female sandbass) they are not stocked in texas but do to natural reproduction on texoma are present in the reservoir and may have a different bag limit for hybrids I know they raised the limit on striper (box fish) to help trophy production getting rid of some of the small mouthes to feed.

I have caught fish from now to winter from the banks - past a spawn of shad...there are there..you just have to find them.
