Hey Everybody! I've started a new Ray Hubbard Fishing Blog and have included a link in my signature. I hope everybody enjoys reading it and learns a thing or two about fishing on Ray Hubbard. Lets get to it!

Spring is definitely here on Ray Hubbard with the water temps being anywhere from 67 to 71 depending on the weather that day. The fish are generally done spawning and are beginning to fall into their normal summer patterns. Most of the fish i've cleaned are PACKED full of shad which going hand in hand with them gorging themselves in a post-spawn frenzy.

Early each day we are beginning to see some great schooling action at some of the normal places like the Jetty and Robertson Park. Although these are great locations to find schooling action, they are not always the BEST places to catch BIG fish. Several mornings this week I rode around the lake to find schooling in some odd places you wouldn't normally think to look. There are few to no birds working over them so you just have to use your binoculars to look around.

Once you find them, a big sassy shad on a 1oz jig head will produce quality white bass and hybrid striped bass. Their favorite color seems to be chartreuse. Try to cast past the schooling or as far into it as you can and reel FAST! Be sure to hang on because when a big hybrid decided to jump on, it'll be a fight! I'm using these and these thumb

After thats over you can start checking deep water humps near where the schooling action took place. Lots of the levees and some free-standing humps have produced. Creep over these areas with your trolling motor and you should see them on your graph. Depending on the day and the water temperature, fish are not always on the very top of the structure. Often this past week they were on the sides of structure on either the upwind or downwind side. Once you find them at one place you can usually duplicate that pattern somewhere else and have success.

For the deep bite I've been using Moe's Godfather Slabs in 2oz with saltwater flies tied above. These are truly a deadly combination for GREAT white bass fishing. They have wanted them slowly lifted off the bottom.

It's been a heck of a week to break in the new ride thumb We've went from INSANE wind to slick calm in the 6 days i've fished this week. My overall impression with Sportsman boats is that they are a VERY stable and VERY dry riding boat. I've never had trim tabs before on a boat and after some getting used to them, they're AWESOME! The rain scared my customers off today and I wasn't even upset smile A great day to get some things done and work around the house.

If anybody wants to fill their freezer and enjoy a great day on the water in my NEW 24ft center console, give me a shout! I'll be happy to give you a demonstration of the electronics and show you how to duplicate our catching for yourself. Thank you all! - Paul Rogers, 214-668-8467

We caught between 12-15 hybrids and good sandies early this morning on the "Hooked Up" at www.MetroplexGuideService.com. I finally got to fish with KayakBill for the first time and boy that man can catch! Pastor Pete and another angler joined us. We were on the water from 6:30 to 11:30 and caught most of our fish early at the first shallow spot with sporadic top water boils, throwing sassy shads. After that played out we went looking deep and found some here and there but not as concentrated. Overall it was a fun and satisfying day of catching and hanging out with buddies on Paul's awesome new ride! cheers

Water temp was 68-70 degrees. Winds very minimal. Very overcast morning. Catching depths were 2-4 ft and 21-25 feet.

Paul has another trip at 2pm so we all went to lunch at Genghis and cooked our own meals and man I can cook!...lol

Most of the hybrids were slightly under and borderline pic worthy, but a blast to catch! Sorry no pics of our hybrids from my camera. LOL!

Thanks Paul for a fun time with friends, TFFers, guide, etc etc cheers

Hey Todd, it was definitely a "get there early or miss out" kind of day smile Those things were just so scattered after the morning schooling. Good news is that the sun came out later and the fish got STACKED up! We limited in around 2 hours this afternoon and decided to call it a day so mom and daughter could go shopping smile good times!!!

Hey sounds like a perfect "guide" day for ya, Paul! We talked about the fish being stacked up more at those spots later in the day and good to know they are still doing that! Buddies Duece, Frank and BlueTuna were out in the afternoon and you guys probly communicated and did well also...

Thanks again for the good times this morning! grin

Forgot to tell you that cooler "snaps" closed if you want to keep air tight. smile
